By What Authority?

Welcome to this portion of the web site! Thank you for your interest in "By What Authority?" The object of this section is to explore the topic of religious authority. Where do we get religious authority? If I wanted to start up my own religion and make my own rules and traditions, would I have the authority to do so? Why or why not? What if my uncle saw a vision and it told him to establish a religion and marry 20 women--would that be the right thing to do? What if I feel deep down in my heart that something is the right thing to do, does that make it right? How do we know what is right? Do I know because my grandfather said that his grandfather said it was right? Where do we get religious authority?
